Year 6 - Titanic Inspired MasterChef Week

This week, Year 6 embarked on an exciting MasterChef challenge inspired by the famous voyage of the Titanic. Taking inspiration from both British and American cuisine, the children prepared two delicious dishes: a traditional Vegetable Pie representing England and a classic Peach Cobbler representing America.

Before the cooking began, the children visited Lidl to purchase their ingredients. Working within a budget, they carefully selected the best-value products, calculated costs, and checked their change, demonstrating excellent mathematical and life skills.

At school, the children prepared the vegetables by peeling and chopping carrots, potatoes, and onions before carefully cooking the filling for their vegetable pie. The children also made pastry from scratch for both dishes, developing their culinary skills and showing great perseverance throughout the process.

Once the fillings and pastry were ready, the teams assembled their Vegetable Pies and Peach Cobblers with impressive attention to detail. Throughout the morning, the children communicated effectively, organised their workspaces, and supported one another to ensure every task was completed successfully.

The teamwork the children displayed was exceptional. They shared responsibilities, listened to each other's ideas, and worked collaboratively to overcome challenges. They also demonstrated excellent hygiene and responsibility by washing up equipment and keeping their work areas clean and tidy.
