In Science, Year 3 began their new Science Physics unit 'Forces', with a particular focus on magnets. They explored the key ideas that magnetic forces can act at a distance and that magnets can attract or repel each other. The lesson started with children sharing what they already knew about magnets and examples of where they had encountered them in the real world. They then enjoyed hands-on exploration in the classroom, testing different materials, distances, and sizes of magnets. To finish, children applied their learning creatively by designing their own magnetic mazes, using a paper plate, metal paperclip and a magnet to successfully steer the paperclip through the maze.
