Year 3 - Patterns That Take Shape

This week, Year 3 took part in the National Gallery’s Art School virtual workshop Patterns that Take Shape. The children were captivated as they explored how artists throughout history have used pattern and shape to bring their ideas to life. Guided by the workshop leaders, children experimented with sketching techniques, trying out bold lines, repeating motifs and playful geometric designs. They loved seeing how famous artists approached pattern in their work, and began using these ideas to develop their own recreations. The session strengthened their drawing skills and encouraged them to observe, reflect and create with confidence.
