Year 5 - Scoot Fit
Back to Latest News
It has been another exciting week in Year 5 with lots of enrichment activities to keep us all very busy. On Wednesday everyone enjoyed taking part in a 'Scoot Fit' session, increading our confidence on scooters by playing games such as scoot football, and challenging our friends to keep improving their balance and technique.
It was also NSPCC Pants Week so we spent some time learning the PANTs rules which are all about respecting our own and each other's bodies and understanding consent. After some great discussions around knowing how to keep themselves and others safe, the children each decorated their own pair of pants to decorate our school and remind everyone about the meaning behind Pants Week. In class we have continued our learning about Volcanoes and Volcanologists. After the children had been introduced to two famous volcanologists: Sir Stephen Sparks and Katia Krafft, they conducted research to learn more about their lives and then wrote their own autobiographies from the perspective of the volcanologist themself. We also learnt about the benefits of not just working near a volcano, but living near one too. Ask your child why some people may choose to live near to a volcano.
