Year 1 have loved exploring the local woodlands at Forest School this term, climbing trees, balancing along logs and jumping in muddy puddles. The children have used their Science learning to observe seasonal changes in the environment, such as the colder temperatures and the fallen red and orange leaves. They also used identification charts to search for and name different minibeasts, using magnifying glasses to closely observe their physical features and characteristics. After listening to the story of The Littlest Hoglet and learning all about the importance of encouraging our local wildlife, the children even had a go at building their own hedgehog homes using natural materials.
