Year 2 had an great time visiting Colchester Zoo, and the day couldn’t have been better! The sun was shining, and the animals were all out and about, giving us plenty to see and learn.

The first stop was the sea lion enclosure, where we were lucky enough to catch them swimming in their large tank. We saw the elephants and giraffes out in their enclosures, happily enjoying the warm weather. Year 2 loved seeing them up close and learning about their habits and how they survive in the wild.

Next, we visited the tiger enclosure, home to a tiger named Taiga. To our delight, we got to witness a playful moment as Taiga pounced around, batting at a paper bag like a giant kitten! It was a great opportunity for Year 2 to learn about tigers' instincts and how they interact with their environment.

One of the highlights for many was seeing the komodo dragon. Unlike the energetic tiger, the komodo dragon was motionless, lying still and quietly observing its surroundings—an expert at waiting for the perfect moment to strike its prey.

It was a day filled with wonder, and every student came away with great memories of this experience.
