Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out....

The weather seems unsure of what it's doing but the sun, rain, sun, rain should be good for our plants at least!

We had a lovely display of daffodils to cheer up the playground with some little crocuses poking through...

We planted some pepper and rocket seeds but unfortunately these were unsuccessful and amounted to nothing. We also planted some spring onion and spinach seeds outside and didn't hold out much hope for as we still had a couple of frosts after but we have some spring onions and spinach growing! The gardeners are all really pleased about this.

Also successful are the potatoes we planted. We chitted seed potatoes and planted them before the Easter holidays, again before all frosts had finished. When we came back there didn't seem to be any sign of any potatoes but all of a sudden we had lots of greenery above ground (and hopefully lots of potatoes below...)

The onions we planted are also doing well and there seems to be some rogue potatoes in there as well. Last week we did some maintenance  and made sure the beds were weed free and all the plants watered. We have some tomatoes growing and we also planted some broad beans. All the classes have lots of seedlings for 'The Big Sow', more of that to come next time.......
