Year 5 - Hot Chocolate Fundraising Event
Back to Latest News
On Friday, Year 5 set up a fundraising event to help people affected by the earthquake that took place in Turkey and Syria. They came up with the idea to sell hot chocolate in the hope they would raise money to support the people of these countries.
Year 5 have been learning about natural disasters and so their prior knowledge helped them to understand the impact the earthquake had on Turkey and Syria.
In order to prepare for the hot chocolate stand, Year 5 put posters up around the school to raise awareness and advertise for their stall. They also worked in small groups to plan the hot chocolate stand and thought about which charity they would like to donate the money to. In the end they decided to choose UNICEF as this is a charity they were all aware of and had a good understanding of their aims.
Year 5 worked extremely hard to prepare for the fundraising event and as a result managed to raise £306! Well done to all of Year 5 for supporting Turkey and Syria, you did an amazing job.
