Year 6 - Dia de los Muertos

To continue Year 6's learning about North America, Year 6 learned about Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) during our WOW day. 

Dia de los Muertos is celebrated mainly Central America, and is a celebration focusing on honouring deceased ancestors. It takes place during the start of November. 

Year 6 learned about the famous celebration and some of its customs and traditions. They used their Spanish learning to help them translate the names of the different aspects of the celebration, showing accuracy when pronouncing the Spanish names. 

Year 6 particularly enjoyed trying the traditional food Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead), which they described as ‘deliciously sweet.’ 

Well done to Year 6 for showing respect, tolerance and engagement when learning about different celebrations!
