Year 3 - Masterchef
Back to Latest News
This week Year 3 have really enjoyed taking part in Maylands Masterchef, learning how to make a traditional Egyptian Dish - Mahshi with Zabadi dip.
First the children watched a live cooking demonstration, then they each had a turn at following the recipe and making their own dish in teams. The children used the bridge method and the claw method to chop fresh herbs and onions safely. They also cored peppers and courgettes to stuff with their rice mixture, crushed garlic using garlic crushers and measured different herbs and spices.
Well done to the children for showing maturity and great focus when cooking, we will be selecting our finalist to represent Year 3 soon!
As well as cooking, we have also continued our learning about the River Nile - focusing on Egypt this week. The children made wonderful models of The Nile through Egypt, wrote their own fact files and took part in quizzes. The children have also written some wonderful diary entries imagining that they were wildlife photographers working on the banks of the River Nile - ask them to tell you what they wrote about.
We were also really lucky to see a demonstration of some African Drumming from our visitors this week. Some children even had the opportunity to play along!
Otter Class enjoyed going to Forest School where they put up the hammock and enjoyed swinging beneath the canopy of the trees.
