Since we have been back our topic has been on our local area, Harold Hill. We have brushed up on our map skills and looked at different types of maps of our local area, as well some shops and facilities that we might recognise.

We have also looked at how Samuel Pepys came to visit the Manor in the 1660s.

In writing we have looked at diary writing. We have spent some time making houses for our very own fire of London. We carefully drew wooden beams and painted these similar to the style of building around 1660s.

This afternoon we watched our building catch on fire and discussed the devestation that people at the time must have felt. This experience will enable us to use better language when writing our own diary entry about the Great Fire of London.

Ask you child how they felt watching their building burn, all the hard work that vanished in minutes?
