Year 6 enjoyed celebrating World Book Day on Thursday with a selection of creative costumes, a visit from amazing storyteller Adrian and a chance to create their own graphic novels!

Well done to the winners of our dress-up competition: Harry, who came dressed as Stanley Yelnats, the main character of our Autumn term class reader 'Holes'; and Melissa who created her own mask, cartoon hands and cheese prop to bring Diary of A Wimpy Kid's Greg to life. It was a tough choice this year with so many children creating costumes inspired by characters from their favourite stories; from Alice in Wonderland and Mrs Trunchbull to The Cat in The Hat.

We really enjoyed being invited down to Early Years to read with the children in the garden. Year 6 did a wonderful job of helping the younger children with using their phonics to sound out the words in the story. Ask your child what they read with their reading buddy!

A special mention goes to Raihanna who put on an extraordinary performance when chosen to play Anansi in the storyteller's assembly. You made Year 6 very proud! Well done also to Layla-Rose and David for their performances as part of the ensemble.
