This week in Science we have been learning about friction, so we carried out an investigation to find out what would make the car go faster. Would the different surface material make a difference to the speed, allowing it to come to a halt at the end.

We have been learning about gravity, thrust and friction. This activity enabled the children to think critically using what they had previously learnt when discussing their predictions.

Ask your child to tell you what we used to investigate this and maybe they can show you using items at home. The different surface areas we investigated were bubble wrap, carpet, plastic, wood, sandpaper and rubber. If you don't have a toy car, a ball or something similar will also work.
