Year 4 got their hands dirty making Roman coil pots.
Linked with our theme of ‘Invaders and Settlers of Great Britain’, year 4 attempted to replicate the method used by the Ancient Romans to create clay pots used for storing grain or wine.
We practised the technique of rolling out a long piece of clay which was of equal thickness along its length. We then coiled the clay and built up the height of the pot. Once this was done, we smoothed the sides and added a pattern.
We were proud of the new skill we learnt.
