Year 4 - Top 3 reading books 2021-22

Lizard and Adder class have voted for their favourite top 3 class reading books of the year. It was very difficult as we have read many great books. When all votes were counted, our choices were: 1. Bill's New Frock - Anne Fine 2. The Firework-Maker's Daughter - Philip Pullman 3. Stig of The Dump - Clive King Year 4 chose 'Bill's New Frock' because they thought it was funny and liked how it challenged the preconceptions of how a girl or a boy should be treated. 'I laughed when Bill first realised he was a girl - he was surprised' 'I think this story tells us that we should treat people the same' Year 4 chose 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter' because it was a great adventure story and it too addressed issues of gender equality. 'I would like to be the the main character in the story because she was very brave standing up for herself' 'The story has a lot of humour as well as a very serious point to make' Year 4 chose 'Stig of The Dump' because it linked to their Theme lessons and told a story of how people live different lives. 'I would like to live in a dump like Stig - but only for a day or two' 'I liked how the two main characters became friends without ever being able to speak to each other' Keep up the love for reading Year 4
