Year 1 - Coronation Week
Back to Latest News
The last week of this term has been busy in Squirrel Class and Rabbit Class. We have used the toys that we designed last week to create Stop Motion videos and for the first time we explored Movie Maker to do this. It took a long time to go through the process of taking the pictures and moving the toys, but we persevered. It was so much fun (and at times a little tricky) to edit our movies but we think they came out great!
Also, since this week we were celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we learnt about what we were actually celebrating. We found out what a coronation is, the process that a monarch must follow to become the king or queen and why Queen Elizabeth’s coronation was so special. After learning our coronations, we followed this and became Kings and Queens of Rabbit and Squirrel Class. Each of us were given the opportunity to have the ‘Archbishop of Canterbury’ hand us the orb (which represents the Earth) and a scepter before finally placing our St Edwards Crown on our heads. When we finally became a monarch of our class, all the other children cheered and clapped. We all felt really special!
