In the final week of the Spring term we learnt all about the Christian festival of Easter. The children learnt about the story of Easter, finding out about what is special about Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. We talked about the meanings behind the story, and the symbols of new life that we may see at Easter time. Ask your child to tell you about these at home.

We also designed and made our own Easter decorations. The children first had to draw a detailed diagram of their design, labelling the different parts and making a list of what we might need. Then they cut their required shapes from felt, and used a needle and thread to attach it together. The children learnt how to attach a button by sewing it on, and how to attach two pieces of material together using the blanket stitch. After they had created their decoration, we began to evaluate it and think about what we would do differently next time. Maybe you could create some more decorations at home!

We hope you all have a restful break and look forward to seeing the children when we return to school. Happy Easter!
